REQUIRED READINGS
The required readings for this course are of two kinds, textbook and primary source assignments. Our textbook for the semester is:
- Felipe Fernandez-Armesto, The World: A History, Volume C, 2nd ed. ( = World in the Course Calendar; this book is available for purchase at the UTC bookstore. Please be sure to obtain only the second edition).
The required primary source (PS) readings for the course are available either via the course website (use the URL provided above) or via our course’s Blackboard (BB) portal (within the “course documents” section). While you will often find it helpful to have these materials with you in class, I will require it only on the announced discussion days (see below).
You will also read one short book on a twentieth-century world history topic, which will be the focus for a reflective paper (see "perspectives paper"). These books will also be available at the UTC bookstore, no later than the end of February.
